A man in his 60s who got drunk and threw stones at his mother-in-law and beat up a witness was sentenced to prison.

The Chuncheon District Court announced today (26th) that it had sentenced 62-year-old A, who was charged with assaulting a special classmate, to one year and two months in prison.

A was handed over to trial on charges of assault by throwing a stone the size of two fists at the back of Mr. B in front of the house of his 88-year-old mother-in-law B in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do, at dawn in June last year.

At that time, Mr. A was in a drunken state, and while talking with Mr. B, Mr. B turned around and threw stones at him, swearing at him, such as "die" because he was angry.

When 58-year-old C who witnessed this said, "I'm throwing stones," Mr. A struck C's chin and chest with his fist, inflicting injuries that required treatment for about 6 weeks.

The court ruled that "the sentence was decided by combining the fact that he had a history of being sentenced to several fines for violent crimes and that his mother-in-law did not want the accused to be punished."
