Nine regional bus unions across the country announced a general strike at dawn tomorrow (26th), insisting on a wage increase and job security.

A reporter is at the place where the Seoul bus union and the management are negotiating.

Reporter Deok-gi Yu, the deadline for negotiations is midnight today, are you narrowing your views?

<Reporter>

Yes, I am now at the Seoul Regional Labor Relations Commission.

Negotiations between the Seoul Bus Union and the Seoul Bus Transportation Business Association have been going on here since 3 pm.

Both sides are engaged in a tug-of-war over issues such as wage increases and job security.

The union, which has resisted the wage freeze for two years in a row, is demanding a flat-rate increase of about 322,000 won a month, but the management is fighting with a wage freeze this year due to a decrease in passengers and management difficulties due to Corona 19.

Negotiations are being conducted not only in Seoul, but also in nine regions across the country, including Gyeonggi-do, Busan, and Daegu.

If the gap is not narrowed by midnight today, the bus unions, except for Daegu, Gwangju, and Jeonnam, which have different strike start dates, will go on a legal strike from the first train at 4 a.m. tomorrow.

If the negotiations don't go well, Seoul will be confused on the way to work tomorrow. Are there any countermeasures?

<Reporter>

Yes, in preparation for a city bus strike, local governments such as Seoul were busy preparing transportation measures.

If the union goes on strike, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to operate the subway an additional 190 times a day from tomorrow until the strike ends, and a free shuttle bus to 139 routes, centered on major subway stations.

The private taxi sub system will be completely lifted.

Other local governments such as Gyeonggi and Busan are preparing similar transport measures.
