A woman in her 50s who purchased a large amount of death insurance was found dead suddenly.

A middle school classmate sued for death insurance.

In 2017, a woman in her 50s was found dead in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do.

At the time of death, mugwort rice cake was hung on Kim's neck, but the National Institute of Forensic Sciences determined that the cause of death was unknown, stating that it could not be concluded that the rice cake was the direct cause of death.

After that, it became known that Mr. Kim had purchased 20 death insurance products. In the event of death of Mr. Kim, the amount of insurance that he would receive was 5.9 billion won, and the monthly premium alone amounted to 1.42 million won.

Kim's average monthly income is said to be less than 1 million won, and the beneficiary of this insurance money was Mr. A, a classmate from Kim's middle school.

Mr. Kim was adopted by Mr. A's mother in 2016 at the age of 53, and before and after this, his beneficiary also changed to Mr. A.

Person A filed a lawsuit claiming insurance money from 16 insurance companies, saying that it was "a death from a disaster."

Among them, the court that heard the insurance claim case against the Saemaul Geumgo Federation found that the insurance contract itself was invalid and dismissed Mr. A's claim, saying that Mr. A was dissatisfied with the decision and appealed.
