From next month, schools across the country will resume school classes and field trips will be possible. Details will be reported by reporter Kim Kyung-hee.

Last week, the average number of confirmed students per day was 14,000, which is down to 1/4 compared to the third week of March.

The Ministry of Education has come up with a 'Promotion Plan for Restoring School Life' and decided to normalize all academic activities from the 1st of next month.

Group activities, mobile classes, and discussion classes are conducted as before Corona, and accommodation-type school excursions can be conducted with parental consent.

[Yoo Eun-hye / Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education: As our daily lives are now being restored in all areas of society, we hope that normal educational activities at school sites can be carried out as well as possible…

.]

The burden of quarantine on schools will also be alleviated.

The self-inspection before going to school, which is currently conducted once a week, will be conducted only when necessary according to the judgment of the Office of Education, and the close contact investigation conducted by the school will also be stopped.

If there is a confirmed case in the class, only high-risk groups and students with symptoms need to be tested.

However, basic quarantine systems such as health check through the self-diagnosis app, in-school temperature tests, and partitions in the cafeteria will be maintained until summer vacation.

Whether or not confirmed students take final exams will be decided according to changes in quarantine guidelines, such as lifting the quarantine obligation for confirmed patients.

Many parents have welcomed the return to school routines, but some are still not relieved.

[Parents: I think parents would be concerned about going on a school trip, unless it was a day trip.

(Now that quarantine is completely left to the individual.]

The Ministry of Education said that if a crisis is detected again due to a new strain or a new epidemic, it will be prepared so that the school can respond quickly.
