Netflix, the world's largest online video service, has decided to push for an additional fee for shared accounts.

Netflix said in a quarterly letter to shareholders on the 19th local time that it had tolerated account sharing during the growth of subscribers, but plans to charge for shared accounts, saying that the situation has changed, such as a decrease in subscribers for the first time in 11 years.

Netflix estimates that over 100 million households worldwide share accounts with other paying members.

Netflix says it has been experimenting with charging an additional fee for sharing an account with someone who doesn't live in the same house, and said it could expand it.

It hinted that it could start charging for shared accounts as early as next year.

However, specific measures were not explained.

Previously, Netflix allowed you to add up to two non-living account-sharers in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru for an extra $2.
