Today (the 20th) is the Day of the Disabled.

Yesterday, one day before the Day of the Disabled, about 550 parents of children with developmental disabilities held a rally in front of the Blue House and the transition committee.

Parents held a ceremony to shave their tears saying that a 24-hour support system is desperately needed.

The hair of parents with developmental disabilities falls to the floor.

Both those who cut their hair and those who watch will bring tears to their eyes.

About 550 parents with developmental disabilities gathered in front of the Blue House to participate in the shave.

What they are asking for is to establish a '24-hour support system' so that people with developmental disabilities can live in the local community without the help of their parents.

Rep. Jang Hye-young of the Justice Party, who has a younger brother with developmental disabilities, also participated in the haircut ceremony.

Parents first requested that 570 billion won, nearly three times this year's budget, be reflected next year in order to have a care system for the developmentally disabled even from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

[Yoon Jong-sul/President of the National Federation of Parents with Disabilities: Is it unreasonable to ask that we live in a community without parents, in a world without brothers, at least for day service and residential service?]

In 2018, the government announced the 'Comprehensive Lifetime Care Plan for the Developmentally Disabled' and promised to ease the burden on families through care and employment support.

However, the following year, when the nominal budget for weekly activity services for adults with developmental disabilities was only 11.6 billion won, parents took part in a sit-down in the National Assembly.

Parents raised their voices of criticism saying that nothing has changed significantly from four years ago.

[Park Young-mi / Parents with developmental disabilities: President Moon Jae-in said that he would take care of developmental disabilities 24 hours a day.

But right now, nothing is happening.]

After the ceremony, the parents with developmental disabilities marched to the Presidential Transition Committee carrying boxes of their own hair.

Parents who submitted a request for an interview to President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol will start a hunger strike in front of the transition committee.
