Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo resigned in response to the Democratic Party's proposal for a bill that would completely deprive the prosecution of investigation rights.

The Supreme Prosecutors' Office will convene a National High Prosecutor's Office meeting at the Supreme Prosecutor's Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul from 9:30 am today.

The participants were all six high prosecutors: Lee Seong-yun, Chief of Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, Kim Gwan-jeong, Chief of Suwon High Prosecutor's Office, Yeo Hwan-seop, Chief of Daejeon High Prosecutor's Office, Jo Jung-tae, Chief of Gwangju High Prosecutor's Office, Kwon Soon-beom, Chief of Daegu High Prosecutor's Office, and Jo Jae-yeon, chief of Busan High Prosecutor's Office.

Unlike the last meeting on the 8th, it was reported that Jo Nam-gwan, the head of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, would not attend this time.

The high prosecutors' meeting 10 days ago was presided over by President Kim Oh-soo, but as President Kim resigned the day before, this meeting is expected to be presided over by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Park Seong-jin.

At the last meeting, the chiefs of the high prosecutors said, "We deeply sympathize with the position of the Supreme Prosecutor's Office opposing the promotion of the bill to completely abolish the prosecution's investigation function, and we have agreed to actively deal with the current situation, led by the Prosecutor General."

At today's meeting, measures to block the passage of the 'check-and-run' bill and measures to overcome the crisis facing the entire prosecution organization are expected to be discussed.

About 150 representatives of public prosecutors from all over the country agreed to meet tomorrow (19th) at 7 pm at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office to discuss the problems and countermeasures of the 'examination and overhaul' bill.
