A man in his 30s suspected of setting fire to one person in a row in the middle of the night in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, was questioned before arrest (warrant substantive examination).

This afternoon, the Seoul Southern District Court conducted a substantive examination of the warrant of Mr.

Person A is suspected of setting fire to a two-story commercial building in Singil-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, around 11 pm on the 14th of this month, and then setting fire to a four-story commercial building in Yeongdeungpo-dong around 3:30 am on the next day, the 15th, killing one person.

There were no casualties in the first fire, but in the second fire, a man in his 60s on the third floor of a commercial building died, and a woman in his 70s on the fourth floor of the same building inhaled smoke and was taken to the hospital.

The police urgently arrested Mr. A on the road in Yeongdeungpo-dong around 6 am on the 15th.

Person A, wearing a blue sweatshirt, black training pants and slippers, got off the convoy at 2:30 pm today, bowed his head, and entered the courthouse without saying anything.

After the interrogation, Mr. A, who came out of the court at around 3:43 pm, nodded his head slightly to the reporter's question, 'Did he commit the crime?'

He did not answer questions such as 'I stated that I committed the crime because of dissatisfaction with the world', 'Have you ever committed another arson?'

Earlier, during the police investigation, Mr. A stated that "I set fire to the fire because of dissatisfaction with the world" and stated that both shops that set fires went in to steal money and were in a drunken state.

Person A was not acquainted with the victims, and it was investigated that the crime was not caused by a grudge.
