In Europe, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) urged consumers not to purchase the product directly overseas for the safety of consumers, amid a series of cases in Europe caused by Kinder Chocolate from Ferrero, an Italian confectionery company that is popular as a snack for children.

According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the product in question is chocolate manufactured in Arlon, Belgium and sold in Europe.

Among the products officially imported into Korea, there are no Belgian products, but Belgian Kinder chocolate may have flowed into Korea through direct purchase.

While the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety is blocking the sale of Belgian Kinder Chocolates in online shopping malls, it is planning to conduct Salmonella testing on all overseas Kinder Chocolates imported into Korea in the future.

Salmonella bacteria are mainly found in animal protein foods such as milk and dairy products. When infected, symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting appear within 8 to 48 hours.

Netizens responded, "It's my child's favorite snack, and it's almost in trouble!", "In both Korea and foreign countries, food standards should be raised to the maximum!"
