A fire breaks out near the top of the mountain, and smoke swirls and rises with the strong wind.

Yesterday (10th) around 1:10 pm, a forest fire broke out at 526 meters above sea level at Oknyeobong Peak, Samguk Yusa-myeon, Gunwi-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

A strong wind of 10 meters per second or more blew at the site and spread to the nearby 7th ridge.

The forestry authorities issued a 'second stage of the forest fire' and dispatched 36 helicopters and 200 special firefighters, but the fire could not be extinguished during the day due to strong winds and rugged terrain.

During the night, fire lines were built and efforts were made to prevent the spread.

To date, it is estimated that more than 51 hectares of forest have been lost in these wildfires.

Since the fire site and private houses are far away, there have been no casualties or property damage.

As the day dawns, the forestry authorities re-introduce helicopters and proceed with the full-scale firefighting work.
