The police have launched an investigation into the allegation that a delivery driver who was interested in working with a dog stole money borrowed from the dog's surgery expenses and donations.

Today (6th), the Gangdong Police Station in Seoul received a case through a complaint filed by the National Shinmungo on the 4th, and is investigating the case with delivery driver A on charges of fraud and violation of the Act on the Solicitation and Use of Donations.

Mr. A is suspected of hiding money after borrowing money by sending a message to those who follow his account and collecting donations through his SNS account saying he needs medical expenses for his dogs 'Kyung-tae' and 'Tae-hee'.

Mr. A raised money on several occasions on his Instagram account last month, saying, "Kyung-tae and Tae-hee were recently diagnosed with heart disease, but someone recently had a car accident and they couldn't even do courier work."

He said, "I know that I have to return an unauthorized personal donation of 10 million won or more," he said.

The total amount raised and where it was used were not disclosed.

It is known that he did not pay back most of the borrowed money by sending a direct message.

It is estimated that Mr. A borrowed more than tens of millions of won.

However, the media reported that the amount that Mr. A actually spent on dog treatment was about 3 million won from November last year to last month.

As the controversy grew, Mr. A closed his Instagram account on the 31st of last month.

The police said, "In addition to the complaints made by the National Shimbun, there was a person who sued Mr. A on the 5th, and we are going to proceed with the investigation based on this."

Previously, Mr. A drew attention with his appearance of carrying a Maltese dog, Kyung-tae, in a delivery vehicle he drives.

The courier company that Mr. A works for also appointed his dogs Kyung-tae and Tae-hee as 'Honorary Delivery Drivers'.
