WhatsApp will soon roll out a limitation on the number of messages its users can forward.

The goal: to drastically combat the spread of fake news, reports

.

The new limitation should only affect messages that have already been forwarded in the past.

In 2019, WhatsApp had already limited the transfer of messages (five recipients maximum), always to fight against the circulation of false information on its messaging system.

A rule already imposed for Android

Even more recently, with the Covid-19 pandemic, the application restricted the forwarding of messages to one person at a time to limit the spread of fake news about the coronavirus.

The new transfer rule is expected to arrive in the iOS beta soon.

This update has already been available in the beta version on Android since last March.

With the harmonization of this rule across all operating systems, WhatsApp will offer its users a more stable version of the application.
