The Gyeonggi Provincial Office has been raided by police investigating allegations that Kim Hye-kyung, wife of former Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, misappropriated a corporate card.

The places where the police conducted a search and seizure were the General Affairs Division and Medical Office of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office, and the Office of the Inspector General of the Audit Office.

The search and seizure, which started around 10:20 a.m., lasted over 10 hours.

The police are focusing on securing data on the allegations of personal misappropriation of corporate cards by Kim Hye-kyung, the wife of former Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, who was suspected during the presidential election, and the allegation of receiving prescriptions for medicines in someone else's name.

This was done ten days after Gyeonggi Province filed a complaint with the police against Bae, a former grade 5 civil servant who accompanied Kim.

Bae did not properly respond to the Gyeonggi audition, but Gyeonggi Province is known to have handed over the corporate card usage records from July 2018, when Bae worked at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office to September last year, to the police along with a complaint.

Bae is currently in contact with the police, but it has been confirmed that an official investigation has not been conducted yet.

Person A, who reported Kim Hye-kyung's private protocol for mobilizing public officials and the misappropriation of corporate cards, said in a phone call with SBS that "I am watching the investigation as a citizen."

The police are also planning to check the facts of cases reported by political parties and civic groups, such as illegal hiring of executive secretaries, through analysis of confiscated items.

In the midst of this, the police summoned Eun Su-mi, the mayor of Seongnam, who is suspected of 'recruitment fraud', as a suspect and investigated.

Mayor Eun is suspected of hiring seven officials from the election camp at the time of the last local election without going through formal procedures at the Seohyeon Library, an institution affiliated with Seongnam City.
