• Innovation Dyson launches a fan that purifies formaldehyde gas and a vacuum cleaner with an anti-dust laser beam

Dyson's first headphones, unsurprisingly, have little to do with any other pair of headphones on the market.

The hallmarks of the British company, known for its vacuum cleaners and fans, are usually bold colours, transparencies and a decidedly futuristic aesthetic in their designs.

All this is present in the

Dyson Zone

but if they stand out for something, it is also because they are the first pair of headphones that have an integrated air purifying filter.

These are high-fidelity, noise-canceling headphone headphones that provide surround sound for your ears, but also create

a stream of fresh air thanks to a visor that sits over your mouth

.

The idea is that the product thus combats two common problems in the big cities of the 21st century:

environmental and noise pollution

.

"It affects us all everywhere. In our homes, in classes, at work or while we move whether on foot, by bicycle or by means of public or private transport," explains Jake Dyson, chief engineer of the company. .

Dyson has worked on the product for

the last six years

, building more than 500 prototypes before coming up with the final design.

Initially, for example, the purifier was going to rest directly on the skin, like a diving respirator or a mask like the ones we have used during the pandemic, but in the final product it provides clean air without having to touch the user's skin. , just by directing a stream of purified air towards the nose and mouth.

The compressors and filters that are responsible for cleaning the air are integrated into the cups of the headphones.

There is an electrostatic filter that captures

ultra-fine particles like allergens or particles from

brake, combustion and construction dust.

Next to it there is a layer of carbon supplemented with potassium that captures urban polluting gases such as NO2 or SO2.

The compressor channels purified air into the nose and mouth through flexible pieces.

Dyson has also created an attachment that comes included with the product that seals the purifier to your face.

With it,

a higher level of filtering is added, equivalent to an FFP2 mask

, for cases such as the current Covid-19 epidemic.

As headphones, the Dyson Zone offer the usual features in this type of product.

They are

wireless and have various ambient noise cancellation modes

.

One completely blocks external sound, another allows you to listen to conversations (it activates automatically when you remove the visor from your mouth) and a third mode allows outside sounds to pass through (transparency mode).

For the less daring, Dyson Zone

also allows you to remove the visor completely

and thus transform them into more conventional headphones.

The product will hit the market

at the end of this 2022

but the company has not yet communicated the price they will have.
