Today (29th) around 10:20 am, an explosion occurred at an industrial waste disposal company in the Sihwa Industrial Complex in Seonggok-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, killing two workers.



The explosion was said to have occurred during the company's outdoor hazardous material tank upper pipe welding work.



In the accident, workers A and B in their 50s were struck by debris from the explosion and died at the scene.



They were identified as belonging to an outsourced company.



Immediately after the accident, a fire broke out in an outdoor dangerous goods tank with a total capacity of 40,000 liters (remaining 7,000 liters) containing petroleum, but it was quickly extinguished by the dispatched fire brigade.



There was no leak of hazardous materials from the tank.



It is known that the company that had the accident was a small and medium-sized business with about 90 employees.



A police official said, "It has not yet been determined whether or not the subject of the Serious Accident Punishment Act applies." "Currently, we are investigating the cause of the accident."



Police and fire departments are investigating the details of the accident.
