Last year, a black-breasted bear, believed to have escaped from a kennel in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, was found in a mountain in Cheoin-gu, and authorities began to capture it.

According to the city of Yongin yesterday (28th), the National Park Service started the last black-breasted bear capture operation in the mountain behind Yejik Village in Hodong, Cheoin-gu on the afternoon of the same day.

This bear is believed to be the last of five black-breasted bears that escaped from a bear farm in Cheon-ri, Dong-eup, Cheoin-gu, on November 22, last year.

At that time, two of the five bears were captured and two were killed, but the last one could not be found.

However, finding the last black bear was not easy.

This is because he did not appear for a total of 4 months from November until recently.

As a result, the authorities continued to track the area, including searching the surroundings, installing cameras, and receiving reports from residents.

The bear was found in the wild mountain near the breeding farm where the bear escaped, and as the bear, which disappeared in winter, was found again in spring, related organizations mentioned 'the possibility of hibernation'.

An official from Yongin City said, "Relevant organizations such as the National Park Service have started work to capture bears, such as installing capture frames." He said, "We will use drones to capture bears as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, 12 bears escaped from the bear farm where the bear escaped, starting in 2006, in 2012, 2013, and 2021.

Farmer A was arrested and sentenced to six months in prison on charges of obstructing the execution of official duties by falsely reporting that two animals escaped even though one had escaped to hide the fact of his illegal slaughter when the bear escaped in July of last year.

This is a 'news pick'.
