A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for assaulting a prison colleague saying it interferes with drinking coffee.

The man had already been sentenced to three years and six months in prison for habitual violence.

The Daegu District Court's Pohang Branch Criminal Division 2 (Chief Judge Kwon Soon-hyang) sentenced A (45), who was charged with violating the Act on Punishment of Violence, etc. (habitual injury), to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

On November 11, last year, at around 7:30 am, inmate B in the same room, who was cleaning in the prison room of Pohang Prison, Gyeongsangbuk-do, was injured for two weeks.

It is said that Mr. A, who was drinking coffee at the time, was arguing with Mr. B, who was cleaning with a broom, saying, "Why are you disturbing me drinking coffee?" and struck him in the face with his fist.

Person A, who was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for the same crime, was sentenced to one year and six months in prison for this assault.

The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "Even though he had been punished for assault several times, he assaulted him again."
