More than 3.3 million refugees have fled Ukraine so far.

About half of them are child refugees from Ukraine.

One child leaves the country every second.

Correspondent Rodong-gyu met them.

<Reporter> This

is the Medica border checkpoint on the border between Poland and Ukraine.

Thousands of Ukrainian refugees, mostly women and children, cross the area every day.

Yuram escaped from Kiiwu, the capital city, with her six-month-old baby Philip, leaving her conscripted husband.

What he did as soon as he crossed the border was to feed his starving son for two days with formula provided by a volunteer group.

[Yuram / Kiiw Refugee: Kiiw (Kyiv) also received milk powder support to feed the children, but it was not enough because they only received a very small amount.

The situation in eastern Ukraine is terrible.]

The mother of this child from southern Kherson is also busy making baby food distributed by the relief organization.

A child who does not know this mother's heart often complains in a changed environment.

[Don't cry, let's eat...

Border volunteers welcome the children who have been through unbearable hardships by distributing pre-prepared dolls and snacks.

When that happens, children smile innocently.

But the inner pain they suffered from war is hard to imagine, experts say.

[Bajahat (specialist)/Director of 'Humanity First': It is not easy to leave your country, home, and friends and father behind.

Clearly, I think these children have 'trauma'.

There is no doubt.]

The United Nations Children's Fund says more than 1.5 million Ukrainian children have fled the country as refugees since the Russian invasion on the 24th of last month.

It is said that child refugees are occurring at a rate of almost one per second, which is about half of all refugees.

There is a high risk of falling into dangers such as human trafficking in an unfamiliar environment.

The international community's attention and countermeasures for children, the biggest victims of war, are urgently needed.
