A mother who left her 15-month-old daughter in a motel room for 15 hours for two days has been sentenced to probation.

She is said to have said this to the effect that she was not negligent as this woman was out to save her home.

According to the legal community on the 21st, Judge Shin Yong-mu, the 2nd independent criminal of the Seoul Eastern District Court, sentenced A (47), who was recently charged with violating the Child Welfare Act (abandonment and neglect), to 8 months in prison and 2 years of probation.

He also ordered a 40-hour child abuse treatment program.

Mr. A is accused of leaving her child alone and going out for about 30 hours while staying with his 15-month-old daughter at a motel in Seoul in July 2016.

It was investigated that Mr. A left the motel room around 7:40 in the morning over two days and did not return until 10:40 at night.

At the time, it was said that the motel manager, who found it strange to hear the baby crying all day, opened the locked door and took care of the baby, such as changing the diaper.

In court, Mr. A denied the allegations in court, stating, "I left it alone to find a place to live with her daughter, so it does not fall under her neglect."

Accordingly, it was confirmed that Mr. A left the baby bottle and cookies, but in light of the age of the child at the time and the location of the food, the court found guilty of the charges.

The court said, "I put a baby bottle and sweets on the desk, but the child was too young to eat alone, and the desk was not at a height that I could reach."

However, the court said that the sentencing took into account the fact that the victim had no health problems, was living an amicable life with adequate protection from a specialized institution, and that the accused had mental problems in light of his testimony.
