We told you at this time and a few months ago that it is difficult for kidney disease patients to get the necessary dialysis if they get Corona.

After the report went out, the government took measures, but there are still gaps.

Medical reporter Cho Dong-chan covered the points to be supplemented.

At a dialysis hospital in Busan, Corona patients suffering from kidney disease are receiving dialysis.

[Corona dialysis patient: (Cough?) I don't cough.

My throat hurts, and only a little bit of phlegm is coming out.]

What did you bring to the hospital?

[COVID-19 dialysis patient: Everyone who came took a taxi.

(A regular taxi?) There are about one or nine people there, and they all took private taxis.]

Corona patients must use their own vehicle, quarantine taxi, or public health center vehicle to receive hospital treatment.

[COVID-19 dialysis patient: (Health Center) When I call, the phone does not work, and there are no quarantine taxis.]

Public health centers and local governments are also insufficient.

[Responsible official: Not only dialysis patients but also all general patients are in a situation where we have to transport them, but we cannot afford to have one or two dialysis patients.

A week ago, the budget ran out.]

Kidney disease patients who do not have a personal vehicle will have to break the law and use public transportation or give up dialysis if they are diagnosed with Corona.

[Corona 19 dialysis patient: I originally went three times a week, but this time because of the (corona) cold, I didn’t go much this time (I went once.)]

The government increased the number of dialysis rooms for kidney disease patients by 590, but there is still a shortage do.

[Mobile/dialysis specialist (Korea Dialysis Association): It means to simply carry out isolation dialysis in existing hemodialysis rooms, and there is hardly any part in which the government makes additional facilities or supports manpower.]

There is not even a fact-finding survey on how many of the 100,000 kidney disease patients in Korea are confirmed with Corona.
