A man arrested on habitual theft charges has been sentenced to prison for another robbery while he was briefly released to attend his child's wedding.

The Ulsan District Court sentenced A, in his 60s, to four years in prison on charges of quasi-robbery.

In April last year, Mr. A was charged with threatening with a flashlight when the owner of the car opened the door of a car parked in front of a large supermarket in Ulsan and stole a gold bracelet worth 210,000 won and 1 million won.

At that time, even when he was arrested as a current offender, when the police asked for ID, he presented the ID of another person he had stolen earlier.

It was confirmed that Mr. A was sentenced to several times for the same crimes, such as committing another crime four months after being released from prison for theft.

This time, he was arrested and tried, and when he received a decision to suspend the execution of the arrest for attending his child's wedding, he took advantage of this opportunity to commit another theft.

The court explained the reason for sentencing, saying, 'The crime is heavy for committing a crime during repeated offences' and 'In particular, after receiving the decision to be released for attending a child's wedding, severe punishment is inevitable for additional crimes'.
