Kim Jong-un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, gave field guidance to the Seohae Satellite Launching Site, which can launch long-range rockets.

The Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim Jong-un "provided on-site guidance on the Seohae satellite launch site," "presents a goal for the modernization of the satellite launch site," and revealed "specific directions and methods for implementation."

The Seohae Satellite Launch Center, located in Dongchang-ri, Cheolsan-gun, North Pyongan Province, is equipped with facilities such as a launch pad that can launch long-range rockets and a rocket moving rail.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said that General Secretary Kim presented the task of “modernly renovating and expanding the Seohae Satellite Launching Site so that it can launch multi-purpose satellites including military reconnaissance satellites with various transport rockets in the future” told

He also directed the redevelopment and expansion of the launch site area and rocket gun assembly and interlock test facilities to launch large carrier rockets.

Previously, General Secretary Kim visited the National Space Development Agency, which was in charge of space development, and ordered that many reconnaissance satellites be deployed.

As long-range rockets must be launched for deployment of reconnaissance satellites, Kim Jong-un directly approved the launch of long-range rockets.
