The forest fires in Uljin, Gyeongbuk and Samcheok, Gangwon have continued for six days.

The firefighting rate was raised to 75%, and the fire on the side of Eungbongsan Mountain, where the fire was strongest, was considerably softened, the forestry authorities said.

An emergency situation occurred when a fire boat outside the boundary of the Geumgangsong colony entered the colony, but no major damage occurred.

The Uljin and Samcheok wildfires have been fully extinguished as a whole, and the fire extinguishing rate has risen to 75%, slightly higher than 70% in the morning, as the area with strong flames also blocked the spread to some extent.

Completed extinguishing in 9 of 14 Cebu wildfire zones.

At a briefing on the afternoon of the 9th, Choi Byeong-am, head of the Korea Forest Service, said, "We have softened the situation considerably by focusing on aerial firefighting on the most difficult area, Eungbongsan."

The authorities are mobilizing all their fire-fighting capabilities to the west, including Sogwang-ri and Eungbongsan.

Today, 280 ground equipment, including 82 helicopters and 47 fire-fighting vehicles, and 3,908 manpower were intensively deployed in Sogwang-ri, Deokguri and Eungbongsan areas.

However, in the Geumgangsong community in Sogwang-ri, the embers flew three times in the afternoon and went out and came back to life, and they are struggling.

Even this morning, a fire boat came in and extinguished it urgently, and fortunately, the place where the fire came over was far from the core area of Geumgangsong, so the damage was not great.

As the fire boat is descending to the upper and lower ridges of the Sogwang-ri water intake dam area, the authorities are exerting all-out efforts to extinguish the ground and build a fire line to protect the core area of Geumgangsong.

The area affected by the forest fire is 19,80 ha, of which 17,779 ha in Uljin and 1,301 ha in Samcheok.

"Fortunately, other areas have been cleared up, so we have room to focus on the strong side," said Choi Byeong-am, head of the Korea Forest Service.
