Investigations to determine the cause of the Uljin wildfire in North Gyeongsang Province are accelerating.

There is a possibility of spontaneous ignition, but as the possibility of a misfire caused by a cigarette fire is pointed out as a strong possibility, the forestry authorities are looking for a suspect.

At a briefing on the morning of the 7th in Uljin, the head of the Korea Forest Service, Choi Byung-am, said, "It has not been specified yet" to a reporter's question about whether a real-life suspect has emerged.

Currently, the Korea Forest Service, the police, and Gyeongbuk Province are looking for the owners of three vehicles that passed before the ignition point in front of the hill in Ducheon-ri, Buk-myeon, Uljin-gun, which is believed to be the first ignition point.

The police have checked the CCTV around the scene, but they have not been able to obtain any clues to identify their identity, such as the vehicle number, so they are expanding the radius of the investigation.

An official from the Uljin Police Station said, "The owner of the vehicle has not yet been identified.

If you look at the CCTV released earlier, on the 4th, 3 cars passed the nearby road 1-7 minutes before the smoke rises from the place that is supposed to be the first ignition point.

A spark then erupted, which quickly spread throughout the surrounding mountains.

As a result, the possibility of a true story caused by a cigarette fire has been raised.

At a briefing yesterday, the head of the Korea Forest Service also said, "Since the fire was ignited on the roadside, it is presumed that a real fire caused by a cigarette or other fire was a factor."

The road is a two-lane two-lane road that is about 10 meters away from the estimated ignition point, and there is no pedestrian path.

At the same time, in order to check the possibility of spontaneous combustion, related experts such as the National Academy of Forestry and Science are investigating the exact cause of the fire by conducting the first investigation at the site on the 4th.
