On the third day of the Uljin forest fire in North Gyeongsang Province, the forestry authorities are focusing their efforts on protecting the urban area of Uljin-eup and the Geumgangsong community.

According to the Korea Forest Service and Gyeongsangbuk-do on the 6th, the forestry authorities intensively put in helicopters yesterday afternoon and then mobilized manpower to sort out the forest fire that hit right in front of the city center of Uljin-eup, Uljin-gun until this morning.

However, the wildfire in Goseong-ri, Uljin-eup is still alive, so helicopters were focused on this morning.

Also, the wildfire is spreading in Sogwang-ri, Geumgangsong-myeon, west of Uljin-eup, so we are focusing on putting out the fire.

Currently, the forest fire has spread to 500m from the Geumgangsong community in Sogwang-ri.

Sogwang-ri is famous as a colony of Geumgangpine, which is considered the best among domestic pines because of its excellent material.

On an area of 2,247 ha, there are 80,000 cypress trees that are over 200 years old.

There are more than 10 million various pine trees, including two 520-year-old protected trees and 350-year-old pine pine trees.

There are about 1,600 Geumgang pine trees with a diameter of more than 60 cm.

The Korea Forest Service plans to focus on catching wildfires around Uljin-eup and Sogwang-ri today.

However, the wildfires are experiencing difficulties due to the wide caustics.

Although the momentum of the wildfires in Samcheok, Gangwon-do, has been dampened, it has not completely subsided.

However, wildfires have occurred in several places in Gangwon, including the East Sea, making it difficult to concentrate helicopters and manpower in Samcheok.

The Korea Forest Service decided to put out one or two helicopters and mobilize manpower to extinguish the forest fire in Samcheok by the middle of today.

An official from the Korea Forest Service said, "The west wind is blowing and the weather conditions are good, so there is no big difficulty in deploying the helicopter."
