Not only the East Sea, but also Gangneung, Samcheok, and Yeongwol forest fires have yet to be caught.

I'll call the on-site reporter.

Reporter Ha Jeong-yeon, are you in Okgye-myeon, Gangneung?

This is where the fire started at dawn today (the 5th), but you can still see the fire behind you.

<Reporter>

Yes, I am now at the site of the forest fire in Okgye-myeon, Gangneung.

It has been 19 hours since the fire started here.

As you can see now, there are fires everywhere, but the thick smoke fills the village, making it difficult to even breathe properly.

The fire report was received here in Okgye-myeon around 1:10 am today.

The first fire started in the house, which was moved from a nearby hillside.

3,000 people and 140 firefighting vehicles were put in to extinguish the fire in all directions, but the fire is spreading rapidly to the south due to strong winds.

About 50 residents of Okgye also evacuated to the village senior center and have not yet returned home.

The situation in Yeongwol and Samcheok near <Anchor>

is still difficult?

<Reporter>

Yes, the wildfire that spread to Samcheok is hardly being caught.

Although the fire has taken a breather as it turned south, the work to extinguish it is still ongoing.

In particular, Samcheok has an LNG production base, so there was an emergency at one time.

About 200 people were evacuated in Samcheok alone, but now some have returned to their homes, and about 100 people remain at the Senior Citizens' Center.

The wildfire that occurred in Yeongwol yesterday is also having difficulties in extinguishing due to the steep mountains and strong winds.
