It was late at night, but forest fire extinguishing work continues not only in Donghae-si, Gangwon-do, but also in Samcheok, Yeongwol, and Gangneung.

We connect reporters who are on-site.

Reporter Ha Jung-yeon, tell us about the Gangneung situation.

<Reporter>

I am now at the site of the forest fire in Okgye-myeon, Gangneung.

The night evolution work is still in progress.

The place where I am is right next to the private house.

However, as you can see, there are still fires everywhere, so firefighters have built up defenses everywhere.

The fire report was received here in Okgye-myeon yesterday (the 5th) around 1:10 am.

The first fire started in the house, but it has spread to nearby hills.

Although firefighting was carried out all day yesterday, the fire is spreading rapidly to the south due to strong winds.

Although it is not possible to fly the helicopter because it is midnight, the forestry authorities are mobilizing about 600 firefighters to carry out the nighttime firefighting work in the Okgye district.

We plan to deploy 26 fire-fighting helicopters as soon as the sun rises.

Yeongwol, Samcheok, and Yangyang are also known to have suffered damage, but what about now?

<Reporter> The

wildfire that spread to Samcheok is not being caught.

As the fire turned south, the nighttime firefighting work is still ongoing.

In particular, there is an LNG production base in Samcheok, so you can't relax even for a moment.

Fortunately, the hurricane has been overcome as the surrounding wildfires have gradually subsided.

First of all, the authorities are working to extinguish the fire by dividing it into four areas, including private houses and barns, overnight.

We plan to deploy 6 helicopters as soon as the sun rises.

The fire that occurred in Yeongwol the other day is also experiencing difficulties in extinguishing due to steep mountains and strong winds.
