Let's go to Uljin, Gyeongbuk, where the first fire started.

As the fire spreads to the southwest again, Uljin-eup, Uljin-gun, is now in an emergency situation.

There was even a communication failure in this area. Reporter Youngjae Hong, how is the situation now?

Yes, I am located near the Howol 3-ri Village Hall in Uljin-eup, Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

As you can see behind me, the fire has spread to the vicinity of the current private house, and an evacuation order has been issued for the residents.

The wind was strong from the morning of today (the 5th), but the flames went south again to Uljin-eup and Jukbyeon-myeon, where there are many private houses, and so far, about 580 residents have moved to nearby evacuation facilities.

The fire department mobilized 51 helicopters and 3,700 people to try to contain the flames offensively in the beginning.

However, with the strong wind, it has been switched to a defensive operation that minimizes damage to private houses.

Also, in Uljin-eup, there was a dizzying situation where the flame spread to a point 10m in front of the gas filling station, and there was even a gas station next to the filling station.

Helicopters and other firefighting forces were mobilized, and fortunately, the fire was extinguished in the afternoon.

Also, due to the fire, the repeaters and lines of telecommunication companies were burned, causing communication problems in this area.

In addition, some sections of National Highways 7 and 36 were controlled by fire.

In Uljin, there was especially the Hanul Nuclear Power Plant, so there was a lot of concern about the damage from the fire.

The fire department said that they would do their best to defend Uljin-eup at night.
