The forest fire that broke out in Uljin, North Gyeongsang Province yesterday (the 4th) carried strong winds and went north to Samcheok, Gangwon, and then went south again this morning.

However, the fire-affected zone is so wide that it is difficult to extinguish the main fire.

As of 7:30 a.m., 8,496 soccer fields have been burned to ashes by this forest fire, and 158 houses, including houses, have been burned.

6,126 villagers were evacuated and some returned home.

In Gangwon, some sections of the Donghae Expressway were controlled due to the spread of wildfires in other areas such as Okgye.

At one time, there was an emergency due to the proximity of some major facilities such as a nuclear power plant, but there was no damage.

As the day dawned, the forestry and firefighting authorities are concentrating their efforts on extinguishing the fire by putting 57 helicopters, 273 ground firefighting equipment, and 3,85 firefighting personnel.

As the wildfire, which traveled north from Uljin to Samcheok on a strong wind overnight, went south again as the wind changed its direction at dawn, we are first suppressing the fire boats going to the Hanul Nuclear Power Plant and Deokgu Oncheon.

273 units, including firefighting equipment and fire engines, were intensively deployed to protect private houses.

It is also planning to put 3,85 people in the workforce to put out the flames coming down to the village.

The forestry authorities expect that it will be difficult to extinguish the main fire in the morning because the area affected by the forest fire is so wide, but they plan to catch the main fire by sunset.
