The Uljin wildfire that occurred around 11:20 am today (the 4th) is still spreading 12 hours later.

At one point today, the fire spread with strong winds with a maximum wind speed of over 25 m/s, and the sphere of influence of the forest fire increased to 3,300 hectares, 11 times the area of Yeouido, Seoul.

It is the largest wildfire in the last 10 years.

Fortunately, no one was injured, but 75 houses were burned and 4,525 residents were evacuated.

Communication has been cut off in the area of Buk-myeon, Uljin-gun, which has been on fire since the afternoon of that day, and even now, residents are complaining of inconvenience because cell phone connections are not working properly.

The forestry authorities have issued the 3rd stage of forest fire response and the national emergency alert for forest fire disasters.

Today's firefighting work focused all our efforts on stopping the fire going to the Hanul Nuclear Power Plant, but the Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters said that there has been no direct damage so far.

However, in case of emergencies, a reduction operation has been initiated to reduce the output of nuclear power plants.

Forestry authorities are mobilizing more than 2,000 people, including special firefighting teams, to extinguish the fire at night.

As soon as the day dawns tomorrow, we plan to deploy 50 helicopters to start a major firefighting operation.
