Yes, I am in a place called Wolcheon-ri, Wondeok-eup, Samcheok-si, which is on the border between Uljin, Gyeongbuk and Samcheok, Gangwon-do.

Now, as you can see, the place is covered in thick smoke, and huge flames are blowing in the wind and spreading rapidly.

The forest fire on the afternoon of the 4th crossed the border between Gangwon-do and Gyeongbuk, and Samcheok-si first evacuated 966 residents of 5 villages to the village welfare center.

Also, National Road 7, which connects Gangwon and Gyeongbuk, is now completely under control as the flames spread.

The reporters also tried to travel to Uljin on National Road 7, but the tunnel was thick with smoke and could not go any further.

In the Uljin area, there is no mobile phone connection due to communication problems.

As the wildfire spreads to the vicinity of the LNG production base located in Hosan-ri, Samcheok, Samcheok City and the fire department are preparing for an emergency by building a defensive line.

In some areas of Uljin, communication problems such as cell phones have occurred, but communication in Samcheok is in a smooth state.

Forest officials estimated that the area affected by the fire was 400 to 500 ha, which is up to 700 times the size of a soccer field.

Gangwon-do and the fire department are planning to mobilize all firefighting equipment and firefighting personnel to prevent the wildfire in preparation for the spread of wildfires overnight to private houses and LNG production bases.
