▲ Amy, who appeared in court in 2014 on drug charges

Amy (real name Lee Yoon-ji, 40), an American broadcaster who was arrested on charges of using methamphetamine, was sentenced to three years in prison in the first trial, which is heavier than the sentence imposed by the prosecution.

This is the third time only drug offenses have been charged.

The 1st Criminal Division of Wonju Branch of the Chuncheon District Court (Chief Judge Shin Gyo-sik) sentenced Amy, who was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act, as follows on the 3rd.

A 37-year-old accomplice Oh (37), who was also charged with drug use, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, six months higher than the prosecutor's sentence.

The court also ordered the two men to complete a 40-hour drug addiction treatment program with prison terms.

Amy was handed over to trial on charges of administering methamphetamine six times from the end of April to the end of August last year.

Amy's side denied the allegations, saying that she was involuntarily held in custody by Mr. Oh.

However, the court judged that the quality of the crime was poor, saying, "The accused has received a probation of imprisonment or deportation measures for a history of the same type of crime in the past." .

Amy, a U.S. national, was sentenced to two times for taking propofol in 2012 and zolpidem in 2014 and was deported from the country.

However, after entering the country in January of last year, he was caught by the police after working on drugs again.
