NASA and SpaceX have decided to strengthen their partnership.

The two parties have just announced it: the American space agency has purchased three additional flights to the International Space Station (ISS) from Elon Musk's company,

Presse-Citron

reports  on Wednesday.

The amount: 900 million dollars.

A first step before a mission to the Moon

The first two flights will be carried out in 2022 in order to carry out the Crew 4 and Crew 5 missions. The third and last flight ordered by NASA should leave Earth in the direction of space in 2023. The objective of the agency American Space Agency is to train its astronauts with a view to sending them to the Moon within a few years.

The Artemis mission, which is to send men to the Moon, is indeed scheduled for 2025 with the possible use of a Starship rocket.

This type of partnership is a real victory for SpaceX because the company led by Elon Musk has often been singled out in the space industry, especially with its reusable rockets.

Now, government space agencies such as NASA use the services of the Californian company to carry out their missions.

The space agency is counting on SpaceX in particular to take care of manned launches, a mission that had never before been entrusted to a private company.
