Last year, at a nursing home in Busan, a caregiver in his 30s assaulted an elderly person with dementia in his 80s.

At that time, it was also revealed that the nursing home side was trying to hide it without notifying the competent authority or the victim's family even though they knew about the assault.

Reporter Hong Seung-yeon reports exclusively.

A nursing home in Busan.

A young man thinks he's arguing with an old man who is dragging a walker, and then suddenly slaps him in the face.

Then he grabs him by the collar, knocks him down, and even crushes his chest with his knees.

In September of last year, it was a scene where A, a caregiver in his 30s, a former special forces soldier, assaulted an elderly man with dementia in his 80s, and the old man suffered bruises and other injuries for two weeks in the front.

A left the nursing home two days after the assault.

This incident became known to the world in mid-October last year, about a month after that.

This is when a public interest reporter reported CCTV footage and assaults inside the nursing home to the competent ward office and senior protection agency.

It was around this time that the nursing home informed the victim's family of the assault, and they belatedly reported Mr.

However, as a result of SBS coverage, it was revealed that the nursing home shared CCTV footage with the staff the day after the assault.

There were also testimonies that the day before the on-site investigation of the competent authority started, the director and staff held a countermeasure meeting to destroy evidence.

The conversation between the staff obtained by the reporters contained specific instructions from the director of the nursing home, 'Delete all CCTV footage, and say that Mr. A hit his grandfather and resigned voluntarily to harm the nursing home.'

[Public Interest Reporter: If you ask a question like this (in the investigation), answer it like this.

If you make a mistake and get a business suspension or a fine, I will charge you for it (I said.)]

The victims' families, who only thought it was an accident, are outraged.

[Son of Victim: I talked about going to the hospital because I was worried about falling because I had an argument with the elderly person next to me (nursing home).

It's just that he lied to me.

Even though I knew it, I was induced to agree (I did this.)]

The head of the nursing facility and the workers should immediately report the abuse to the investigation agency when they become aware of the abuse.

The district office will hold an investigation committee this month to make a final decision on the nursing home.
