A pregnant woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was receiving home treatment was terrified because of the lack of beds, and was then transferred by helicopter to a hospital in another area, 300 km away.

It was only 8 hours after receiving the first report.

Yesterday (27th), according to the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters and Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, around 2:18 a.m. on the same day, a report was received by 119 that a pregnant woman A (36), who lived in Jungwon-gu, Seongnam City, was bleeding with the amniotic fluid ruptured.

A, who was 36 weeks pregnant, was diagnosed with Corona and was being treated at home.

After receiving the report, ambulance crews rushed to the scene and took Mr. A to an ambulance and contacted about 20 nearby hospitals, but only returned the answer that there was no bed that could accommodate pregnant women with coronavirus.

In this situation, paramedics secured a bed at a university hospital in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do, 300 km away, and took Mr. A in an ambulance, then moved to the heliport of a university hospital in Cheonan, Chungnam. .

Mr. A arrived at the hospital around 10:27 am that day, about 8 hours after receiving his first report, and received treatment.

At the time, it was reported that A was not in a situation where childbirth was imminent.

A firefighter official said, "If a pregnant woman is a confirmed patient, the fetus is highly likely to be confirmed as well, so the baby must be delivered at a hospital with a newborn isolation room. It was even more difficult to find a bed because another pregnant woman who tested positive from the COVID-19 diagnostic kit was transferred just before the outbreak,” he said.

Meanwhile, both Mr. A and the fetus are known to have no major health problems.
