It has been confirmed that the public health center of Iksan City, Jeollabuk-do, incorrectly sent a 'negative' text message to dozens of confirmed patients who tested positive for the COVID-19 PCR test.

Yesterday (24th) around 8:00 am, the Iksan City Public Health Center sent a text message to 60 citizens who had undergone the PCR test the day before, saying, 'The PCR test result is negative'.

Some citizens who had undergone a PCR test and waited for the results returned to their daily lives with confidence when they received a negative text message.

However, they were confirmed positive, not negative, corresponding to 'no symptoms of Corona 19'.

Quarantine measures were not taken in time as negative text messages were incorrectly sent to citizens who were mistakenly tested positive by the public health center.

The public health center, which later confirmed that the text was sent incorrectly, sent a correction text to them.

It was only 1 hour and 40 minutes after the wrong message was sent.

A correction text message from the public health center was sent, but some citizens who thought they had tested negative and returned to their daily lives could not hide their absurdity.

A family member of the confirmed patient said, "How can a public health center make such a mistake?" "After receiving the voicemail, I was relieved to contact other family members, and what should I do if the rest of the family is also confirmed?"

It has been confirmed that some confirmed patients received a text message by mistake and thought that their symptoms were a simple cold and received treatment at the hospital.

In response, the Iksan City Public Health Center explained that it was "a mistake made by a private diagnostic testing laboratory."

An official from the public health center explained, "The private diagnosis and testing center staff made a mistake and entered the information of the confirmed case into the system of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. I did.

"We will conduct an epidemiological investigation for 1 hour and 40 minutes until the negative turns into positive, and if there is a problematic movement, we will take appropriate action."
