In the 2021 college scholastic ability test, a ruling has been issued that the government should compensate the students who have suffered damage by posting the test end paper 2 minutes earlier.

The Seoul Central District Court's civil 84 sole (Judge Kim Hong-do) ruled in favor of part of the plaintiff's claim for damages filed by 25 students, including students and their parents, for a total of 88 million won against the state and the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 24th.

The court ordered the government to pay 2 million won to each of the nine candidates.

Responsibility for compensation to parents was not acknowledged.

The students and their parents also demanded compensation for damages from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the broadcasting teacher, but the court did not accept it.

Earlier, in December 2020, at Deokwon Girls' High School in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, the final bell of the first elective exam in the SAT inquiry area rang 2 minutes earlier than the regular test time.

At that time, when the end bell rang, the supervisors took the test papers back, realized that it was an error, and gave the test papers back to the students to solve the problems.

However, the students claimed that they could not solve the problem properly due to the sudden confusion caused by the situation, and the supervisor's response was different, such as the method of rolling up and returning the test papers, and the additional time given.

He also said that he suffered damage because the exact number of minutes of additional time was not announced.

One examinee who took the test at the examination center where the problem arose said, "I was solving the problem while calculating the remaining time, but I gave out the answer sheet with only half of the answers marked."

Another examinee said, "Several students protested, but the supervisor ignored the protests and finished the test without checking the time."

As a result of the investigation by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, it was found that the end bell was rang about 2 minutes earlier than the set time due to the mistake of the broadcasting teacher.

In December 2020, the students and their parents filed a complaint with the police against Education Minister Yoo Eun-hye and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Cho Hee-yeon, saying that they suffered damage because the end bell rang early.

Then, in June of last year, he filed a claim for compensation for psychological damage.
