A court has sentenced a 50-year-old man who murdered an acquaintance of 26 years under the delusion that he would sell himself into human trafficking.

According to the court on the 22nd, the 14th part of the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Settlement (Chief Judge Kim Dong-hyun) sentenced A (57), who was recently charged with murder, to 13 years in prison and ordered probation for 5 years from the end of the execution of the sentence.

Person A was handed over to trial on July 20, last year, in a park in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the charge of murdering an acquaintance B, who had worked in the same industry for 26 years with a knife.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. A lost money due to bicycle racing and asked Mr. B to borrow money, but Mr. B refused and asked, "Repay the 1 million won borrowed from me in 1996." .

After Mr. A went to Seoul from the province with the weapon he had prepared in advance, he lured Mr. B to the park to commit the crime.

At the time of the crime, it was found that Mr. A was caught up in the delusion that Mr. B would sell him into human trafficking.

The court said, "Murder is a crime that infringes on the highest value of human life in a permanent and irreversible form, and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. In light of the circumstances of the case and the nature of the crime, severe punishment for the accused is inevitable.”

However, he explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "The victim came to the crime with a delusional thought that he would sell himself into human trafficking, and it seems that an accurate diagnosis and treatment of whether he has a mental illness is necessary."
