A Belgian magistrate was arrested on Tuesday in the heart of Paris.

He was wanted by the Belgian authorities on suspicion of fraud, money laundering and extortion.

During the year 2021, he had already been sentenced to five years in prison by the justice of his country for fraud and breach of trust.

This Tuesday, the French judicial police arrested a Belgian magistrate in the heart of Paris according to information from the police-justice service of Europe 1. He was wanted by the Belgian authorities, suspected of fraud, money laundering and extortion of funds.

The French judicial police arrested the individual in a hotel in the sixth arrondissement of the capital.

The magistrate of the judiciary of Belgium fled the authorities of his country, because he was implicated, in particular for acts of fraud, committed by using his quality of magistrate.

The judicial police arrested the magistrate in execution of two European arrest warrants issued by the Belgian authorities.

According to a judicial source, he was placed in judicial detention and will be presented to the Paris public prosecutor's office on Wednesday.
