International Margarita Day

is celebrated , the emblematic tequila-based drink and one of the most famous cocktails in the world.

Its origin is in Mexico, although the exact place and how the idea arose is more confusing.

There are many versions and coincidentally they all have a woman as their inspiration when creating this mixture of tequila, triple sec (a liquor made from the distillation of orange peel), lime and salt.

The most

glamorous

is the one that tells how the famous actress Rita Hayworth, who was shooting a movie in Mexico between the 30s and 40s of the last century, asks a waiter to make her a refreshing drink with tequila to quell the heat.

In addition to the liquor, the bartender mixed triple sec in a glass to sweeten and lime to refresh.

As a tribute to the Hollywood actress, he decided to baptize the cocktail with Rita Hayworth's birth name: Margarita Cansino.

Preparing the iconic drink at home is easy, according to instructions from Mexican tequila firm Jose Cuervo.

Just mix 45 ml of tequila, 25 ml of triple sec, 20 ml of fresh lime juice and ice in a cocktail shaker, and then serve in a glass with salt on the rim.

But if you prefer to have them put on by a professional, we suggest eight places where you can't help but ask for them.
