Today (19th) around 8:45 a.m., a fire broke out near a temple in Mt. Chiak, Haenggu-dong, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, and a large fire was extinguished in an hour and a half.

It was found that 0.3 hectares of forest were lost in this fire, and it is known that there was no major damage to the nearby temple.

Gangwon-do, the Gangwon-do Fire Department, and the Korea Forest Service put three helicopters and 70 fire-fighting personnel to work to extinguish the forest fire.

However, it was difficult to put out the fire in the beginning because the nearby mountains were difficult to put in manpower.

Forestry authorities are currently cleaning up the residual fire.

As soon as the fire is completely extinguished, the exact cause of the fire will be investigated.

Meanwhile, a drying advisory is currently being issued in Wonju, Gangwon-do, including Mt. Chiak, and a weak wind of 0.2 m/s is blowing at the site.
