A couple in their 20s who broke the rib of their 7-month-old son in the course of a marital fight were each sentenced to probation in prison.



The 2nd Criminal Division of the Jeju District Court sentenced 26-year-old A and his wife, 25-year-old B, who were brought to trial on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act and the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes, respectively. sentenced to two years of probation.



Mr. A is accused of breaking the ribs of her son, who was near her, by pushing Mr. B with his hand during a couple fight in the living room of his home in Jeju City in January last year.



At the time, Mr. A saw her wife pounding her butt wheel over her son lying on her floor, but she pressed her hand against her wife's shoulders and chest for about 30 seconds to prevent her from getting up and told her to her son. It turned out to be a constant shock.



The shock broke his son's ribs, causing his stomach to fill up to the point where it was difficult to fill a diaper, and his health deteriorated, including sweating, but the couple did not take him to the hospital immediately.



It was confirmed that his 7-month-old son finally went to the hospital after 10 days to receive treatment.



The couple are also accused of going out for a long time, such as leaving their son, who was only two months old, at home alone in 2020 and going to a PC room several times.



The court said, "Despite the duty of the accused to raise their children in a stable environment, they neglected them on several occasions," the court said.



"However, we have received reports that the child is growing normally and showing no emotional problems," the court said. and stated the reason for the sentencing.
