Nintendo announces the end of an era.

The Japanese company warned on Tuesday that it would be impossible to buy games for the Wii U and 3DS consoles from March 2023, reports Frandroid.

Both consoles, released more than ten years ago, are victims of the success of the Switch, which is Nintendo's best-selling console.

Currently, it is still possible for Wii U and 3DS owners to purchase games compatible with their console on Nintendo eShop.

They can also enjoy game demos and download content for free.

In a year, that will no longer be possible.

Other restrictions before March 2023

But things will get complicated long before for players with these two consoles.

From May 23, they will not be able to register any credit cards to add funds to their Nintendo eShop account on affected consoles.

On August 29, Nintendo eShop Cards cannot be linked to the account on Wii U or Nintendo 3DS/2DS family systems.

In detail, the New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 2DS XL, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS portable consoles are affected by this decision, as well as the Wii U and Wii home consoles. U Deluxe.

However, Nintendo does track online games on Wii U. Likewise, all previously purchased games will be available for re-download without any time limit.

And everyone will be able to benefit from software updates.
