Former national coach Cho Jae-beom, who was under police investigation for leaking Sim Seok-hee's text messages, was handed over to the prosecution.

The Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency's Women's Youth Crime Investigation Unit said that it had forwarded coach Cho and his family to the prosecution on the 4th for defamation charges.

In October of last year, the police seized and searched the home of the former coach's family to find out how Shim's text messages were leaked and secured laptops and USBs.

At the time, the police said, "There have been no complaints or complaints related to this case, but we have started our own investigation on allegations of defamation." I specified the IP," he explained.

A police official said, "The details of the leak, etc. cannot be disclosed as an investigation matter."

In October of last year, Shim's text, which was released by a media outlet, has been controversial because it contains suspicions of intentional collisions in the 1000M final at the Pyeongchang Olympics and gossips from colleagues.

However, as the leaker of the text was known as former coach Cho, who was convicted of sexually assaulting Shim, criticism was also raised as intentional retaliation and a 'second offense'.

At the time, the Sports Citizens' Solidarity pointed out, "It can be seen as an attempt by the perpetrator to dilute the facts of his serious crime by scratching the victim and agitating public opinion."

The Sports Human Rights Institute also said, "Ex-coach coach Cho attempted to shed light on the facts of the assault by providing the media with extensive private information about the victim unrelated to the sexual assault case under trial." explained.

On the other hand, the Korea Skating Federation imposed a two-month suspension of qualifications for Shim based on the contents of the text message, and the application for injunction was also dismissed, and Shim's participation in the Olympics was canceled.

Former coach Jo is currently serving a 13-year prison sentence at the Supreme Court on charges of sexually assaulting Shim over three years.
