In its new annual activity report, the mediation of electronic communications reveals that the number of referrals increased by 1% in 2021 with 12,058 files.
According to the association responsible since 2003 for ultimately managing disputes between subscribers and operators, optical fiber has become the second source of conflict before ADSL, as our colleagues from
Les Echos
report on Tuesday.
The mobile remains the main source of dispute with 39% of referrals.
According to the economic newspaper, optical fiber now represents 30% of the files handled by the institution, seized by subscribers who have not won their case with their operator.
This proportion was 25% in 2020 and 19% in 2019.
13.4 million fiber subscribers
Contacted by our colleagues, the mediator Valérie Alvarez describes this progression as "logical".
She recalls that in one year, 6 million households have become eligible for fiber, or 16,500 per day.
Last summer, the number of users using fiber even exceeded ADSL customers with 13.4 million subscribers.
Unfortunately, this increase comes up against problems of installation and quality of service.
Ripped gutters, pierced windows, unreliable connections... The complaints follow one another and are similar.
According to
Les Échos
, the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications, Posts and Press Distribution (ARCEP) has even made it its number one subject in order to stem the phenomenon.
