The third and final week of the trial of Nordahl Lelandais in the case of the murder of little Maëlys starts this Monday.

Since the start of the hearings, the public has flocked to the corridors of the Grenoble court to attend.

Because the trial fascinates and fascinates.

Last Friday, they were nearly 300 waiting for a place.

This Monday marks the start of the third and final week of the Lelandais trial, the verdict of which is expected on Friday.

Today are expected at the bar the psychiatric experts who examined the alleged murderer of little Maëlys.

Unless the Assize Court of Isère reconsiders the late confessions of Nordahl Lelandais, last Friday at the end of the day, when his lawyer finally made him recognize that the kidnapping and the murder of the little girl were " voluntary acts".

Anyway, it's a trial that fascinates, as noted by Europe 1. For 15 days, the public has been flocking to the corridors of the Grenoble court to attend the hearings and see the alleged murderer of little Maëlys .

They were nearly 300 last Friday, the day of the interrogation of the former dog handler, waiting for a place to attend the trial.

Two queues of 150 people, one for the courtroom, the other for the video retransmission room, both open to the public.

An audience ready to wait a long time for like Franck, very touched by the tragedy experienced by the family of Maëlys and who, at the end of the day, were still waiting to enter.

“We've been waiting since 11 a.m. this morning. We've come to support Maëlys and her family. This story had happened there“, he explains.

An audience fascinated by Lelandais

But the majority of people came only for Nordahl Lelandais, as if fascinated by the alleged murderer.

"It's interesting to see him in real life. We've seen him on TV, we've heard him speak, but we want to see him in the flesh," admits a young woman.

“I would just like to see the beast”, outbids another before continuing.

"He's a guy who has a very heavy baggage in him and a beast that sleeps in him, you can feel it, you can see it".

For another, Lelandais could be 'everyman'.

"We often call him a monster, but it could be anyone. It's quite disturbing, he has the face of 'everyman', whom we could meet in the morning while going to buy bread", notes- he.

A fascinated public and an influx that the police are obliged to regulate every day.

Especially since we expect even more people this week as the verdict approaches.
