Nordahl Lelandais is back before an assize court in Grenoble to answer for the death in 2017 of little Maëlys de Araujo, during a three-week trial.

After ten days of hearing the former dog handler has still not lifted the veil on the night of the disappearance of the little girl in August 2017. And for the father of the victim, Lelandais still has things to hide.

After ten days of trial, Nordahl Lelandais has still not revealed his secrets.

Invited to explain himself, the former dog handler merely repeated that little Maëlys asked during the night to see her dogs and that she was accompanied at this time by a "little blond boy" whose trace could not be found by the investigators.

Nordahl Lelandais "true to himself"

Maëlys' father, Joachim de Araujo, returned to the microphone of Europe 1 on the attitude of Nordahl Lelandais since the start of the trial, while he hopes that the latter will finally lift the veil on the night of the disappearance of the little girl in August 2017. "He stays true to himself, always in denial. To be honest, I can't understand his position. I don't know what he's really looking for," he said. he acknowledged.

He indeed expects Nordahl Lelandais to take responsibility for his actions and release his words.

"He has a little over a week left to clear his conscience. For me, it's the only way for him to feel better inside. But honestly, I doubt very much that he will decide to confess all that he did. If he stays in denial, it's because he still has things to hide. For me, he committed the most terrible act. Excuse that, I don't see how."

Nordahl Lelandais is also on trial for sexual assault against two of his little cousins, aged 4 and 6, whom he recognized, even admitting on Monday for the first time to have felt "pedophile" inclinations.

On the other hand, he categorically denies any rape or sexual assault against Maëlys.

Already sentenced in Chambéry in May 2021 to 20 years' imprisonment for the murder of young soldier Arthur Noyer, the accused faces life imprisonment for the murder of Maëlys.

The verdict is expected around February 18.
