There is another notable person on the list secured by the police.

Kim Sang-jo, former chief of policy at the Blue House.

In addition, several professors from Korea University, where Ambassador Ha-seong Jang was a member, were also included, and the police are closely examining the form of the fund they invested in.

This is the exclusive report by Reporter Lee Seong-hoon.

Kim Sang-jo, former chief of policy at the Blue House, invested in the Discovery Fund in July 2017, right after he took office as the Fair Trade Commissioner.

In March 2018, the amount of deposits at a securities company increased by 400 million won even in the public property report during the tenure of the Fair Trade Commission Chairman.

"He was in a situation where he could not enter a public office and invest in stocks, so he invested in a private equity fund that he understood well," Kim said in a phone call with SBS.

It has been confirmed that the list includes several Korea University professors, where Ambassador Ha-seong Jang worked.

The police believe that the timing and product types of investment by Ambassador Ha-seong Jang, former head of department Kim Sang-jo, and professor at Korea University are all similar.

Most common fund victims invested in 'closed-type funds' that cannot be redeemed before maturity, but they appear to be 'open-type funds' where deposits and withdrawals are free mid-term.

Another issue is how the asset management company utilized the file containing the names of major investors and their investment amounts.

[Kim Jeong-cheol / Attorney: If you do it in a form that manages a specific target and grants preferential treatment, it can lead to the duty of good faith under the Capital Market Act, which can harm the interests of a specific investor for the benefit of oneself or a third party.]

Discovery Asset Management explained, "We did not create a separate list of investors, and we received investor information only as an anonymized number from the seller."
