The Jeju Provincial Police Agency announced today (9th) that they will investigate 6 unreported lodging establishments in the past month, following the Public Sanitation Management Act.



In particular, among the places that were caught, there were places that were introduced in popular entertainment programs and received attention as a 'hot place' through social networking services (SNS).



As the number of individual and small-scale tourists increased due to the impact of Corona 19, it was revealed that the company has been operating by renovating a detached house with a unique interior in line with the recent tourism trend and promoting it as a 'emotional accommodation' on social media.




The self-governing police decided to conduct special crackdowns throughout the year, as the number of tourists visiting Jeju increases amid the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak, and there are concerns about poor safety and sanitation management due to the swarm of unreported accommodations.



In accordance with the Public Health Management Act, non-reported lodging businesses may be punished by imprisonment for not more than one year or by a fine of not more than 10 million won.



The self-governing police decided to organize a team in charge of each region to strengthen the monitoring of internet brokerage platforms and SNS, and to conduct joint crackdowns with provinces and administrative cities.



In addition, we promote recidivism prevention activities by managing a list of 546 violators that have been caught over the past three years and conducting a full investigation of their operation status.
