A 40-year-old woman who was asked to kill a woman living with her battling cancer was commuted on appeal.

Today (8th), the Gwangju High Court's 2-3 Criminal Division (Sung Chung-yong, Wi Kwang-ha, and Park Jeong-hoon) sent out the lower court sentenced to two years and six months in prison in the appeal trial against A (46), who was charged with commissioned murder, etc. He was dismissed and sentenced to one year in prison.

A was handed over to trial on March 19, 2021, on the charge of killing B (40), her cohabitation, in a house in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City.

Person A is accused of killing Mr. B, who was sleeping after taking sleeping pills when he was asked to 'kill him'.

As a result of the investigation, it was found that Mr. B, who had been financially dependent on Mr. A after battling cancer after being diagnosed with cancer in 2014, had asked Mr. A several times since early 2020, saying, "I can't live because I am sick. Please kill me."

Mr. B, who died, said, 'I made a difficult request to my sister (Mr. A).

She left a will with the message 'My sister is also a victim', and Mr. A left Mr. B's body for 27 days after the crime, and then surrendered to the police on April 15 last year.

In response, the first trial court said, "The defendant was not a family member, but as a long-term cohabitant, he should have made an effort to find a better way than the commissioned murder to alleviate the victim's pain." The sentence was decided in consideration of the fact that he had no criminal history and surrendered himself.”

However, the appellate court overturned the original judgment and sentenced them to one year in prison, saying, "There is a reason for the defendant's argument that the sentence of the lower court is heavy, taking into account the fact that the victims' families are pleading for mercy and that they have taken good care of the victims during their lifetime." judged.

This is a 'news pick'.
